A couple from the North East of the UK are the latest couple to become millionaire thanks to the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle, and their prize included a luxury holiday to top it all off!

George and Sandra Kinghorn won their million in a Mega Friday draw of the EuroMillions lottery at the end of October, when 25 players won a £1 million prize as well as a luxury holiday to one of Richard Branson’s private islands. The couple discovered their win when they returned from a holiday in Tenerife, and Mr Kinghorn said that he thought they had won a much smaller amount when they first saw that they had matched some numbers.

On their way home from the airport after returning from their trip, Mr Kinghorn received an email from the National Lottery informing him that he had won a prize, but went straight to bed dismissing it as just a few pounds. The next day, however, the EuroMillions player logged onto his lottery account and discovered that he had become a millionaire.

“I never once thought I’d scooped the jackpot,” Mr Kinghorn told lottery officials as he collected his prize from October 31st, continuing to say that he was in so much shock when he saw on his computer screen that he was a EuroMillions winner that he had to turn the computer off and back on again because “I was sure it was a mistake,” he said. Mrs Kinghorn then double checked and confirmed that they had in fact won £1 million on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle.

However, despite being millionaires, Mr Kinghorn, who is an off shore oil worker, says that he will continue working but will ensure that his new found wealth will come into use during his time off. The EuroMillions winners say that they haven’t thought too much about how they will be spending the money, although they will be taking seven friends on a luxury island holiday which was included in their Mega Friday win. The holiday will include fourteen nights in an indulgent hotel with a private chef, personal spa treatments and a sunset cruise.
