LIGHTNING BOLT SURVIVOR WINS $1M LOTTO 6/49 PRIZE

Peter McCathie from Amherst Store in Cumberland County in Nova Scotia, Canada is lucky to be alive, let alone share a $1m Lotto 6/49 prize won in the July 15 draw. As a teenager he was struck by lightning but now he and Diana Miller are celebrating their big win.The winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was purchased from the Amherst Shore Country Store that Peter owns and Miller works there as a baker. The pair have been buying lottery tickets together for about a year. Earlier this month we told you about Darren Doyle and his daughter Carlee from Charlottetown in Canada who shared a $1m Lotto Max prize, while in the USA, Priscilla Kim and Andrew Sa shared a $1m lottery win.The winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was bought through a 'Retailer Play' button that allows store owners or employees to buy tickets and avoid disputes later. McCathie will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. In March of this year Canadian champion curler Suzanne Birt won a $500,000 scratchcard prize using a ticket purchased from the store she worked at.It's the second big lottery win in the county after Helen Fortune won a $1m Lotto 6/49 windfall last month. The Lotto 6/49 is a more pleasant experience for Peter but still a shock. He joked: "I honestly expected to get hit by lightning again first." Statistics show the odds of being struck by lightning and then winning the lottery are 1 in 2.6 trillion.McCathie wants to pay off some bills and take his wife on a second honeymoon to Ecuador for their 30th anniversary next year. That's similar to lottery winner Joshua Holdbrooks who won $377,777 earlier this month and is going to treat his wife on their 10th wedding anniversary. An anonymous $1m Mega Millions winner from Oak Harbor in Washington State is taking his wife to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary.Diana is planning on using some of her Lotto 6/49 winnings to go on a trip to Cancun in Mexico. She joked: "Maybe I won't ask him for a raise this year”.For your chance of also becoming a winner, play online with us at Lottery24.com.
