Supermarket syndicate score Irish Lotto win on St Patrick’s day

SUPERMARKET SYNDICATE SCORE IRISH LOTTO WIN ON ST PATRICK’S DAY

A syndicate of 10 colleagues at an Irish supermarket have scored a huge €219,472 Irish Lotto win thanks to the St Patrick’s Day drawing last month. The syndicate, all of whom work at the Hurley’s Supervalu store in Townspark, Midleton, called themselves the “Cheque-Out Girls” syndicate as they claimed their prize at National Lottery HQ, with each of them taking home just under €22,000. Their Irish Lotto ticket matched five numbers and the bonus ball on the Lotto drawing on March 17th. A supermarket syndicate from Ireland played a trick on the locals as they revealed that they’d won on the EuroMillions, to the tune of €5.Just like a National Lottery scratch card winner from England who bought her winning ticket from the store she managed, the winning ticket was purchased from the Supervalu store where they work, and the group told National Lottery officials that they’ve been playing the Irish Lotto together for 12 years. The syndicate are aged between 25 and 50, and have plans for their winnings including holidays, new kitchens, new bathrooms and for one, a wedding. Another Irish syndicate recently shared a €29,526 EuroMillions prize which was to be split among 37 people. The syndicate leader, Fiona Stack, told lottery officials that it was herself and a colleague who realised their fortune the morning after the drawing who took place. “It was only myself and Susan in the store along with our manager who had told us that the National Lottery had been in contact to let him know that we had sold a winning Irish Lotto ticket,” she said. A member of a Dublin family syndicate recently hid their winning Irish Lotto ticket in her sports bra.It was then that Ms Stack wondered if that winning ticket was their own, and so she took it upon herself to scan it. “I screamed at Susan ‘We’ve won, we’ve won’,” the Irish Lotto syndicate leader said. “She looked at the ticket and we started jumping around the shop shouting.”The group were given the day off work by the store owner, who said that he was delighted for his staff members, and even rented a bus for them to travel to Dublin and collect their prize, just as a syndicate of Dublin bus drivers arrived at Lottery HQ when they claimed their €24 million EuroMillions prize. “It was a fabulous feeling,” said Ms Stack. You never know when and where good fortune is going to strike, so purchase your tickets now at Lottery24.com.
