An American Air Force veteran from Maryland in the USA has won a huge high-flying Powerball prize worth $100,200.

Paul Drisdale, from Potomac in Maryland won his Powerball prize in the drawing held on April 18th, and he told lottery officials that he was flying high himself after he found out. The lottery player bought his winning Powerball ticket from an Express Mart store on Hall Road in Bowie when he stopped off to get his morning coffee and a couple of lottery tickets. Recently we told you about an army veteran from Louisiana who won $1 million on the Mega Millions.

The drawing was the next day, and his tickets matched four numbers on one line and four numbers plus the Powerball on the second line, winning him a total of $100,200 with both wins combined. “I had gone back to the store to check a few of my tickets because I had a few winners and that was when the owner told me I had won a $100,200 prize,” the Powerball winner said. A veteran from the Vietnam war won $30,000 on the Hot Lotto, but didn’t check his ticket for a month!

“When I realised how much I had won, it made me realize that I could pay off a few of my credit card bills,” Mr Drisdale continued. The Powerball winner isn’t a newbie to big lottery wins, in actual fact he told Maryland Lottery officials that he’s won many a time with the Virginia Lottery as well, winning $15,000 on a 5 Card Cash scratch card just a few years ago. It wasn’t that long ago that we told you about another Maryland Powerball lottery winner who took home $50,000, while a Kansas woman won a $100,000 prize on a scratch card which also wasn’t her first big win.

The Powerball winner’s prize money now totals more than $150,000 on lottery games, and with this latest instalment the air force veteran says that he hopes he’ll be able to take a trip away somewhere tropical once he’s paid his bills off. A Canadian Lotto 649 winner hoped to take a trip to the Caribbean after he won a huge $250,000 prize. The winning Powerball ticket included numbers from family birthdays, so we expect he’ll be treating his family to celebrate as well.
