It’s not been an easy time for farmers in the Singleton area of New South Wales in Australia. However, one farmer has just seen his finances boosted after winning a $200,000 prize on the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw held on September 21.
The Singleton area has been hit by drought in recent months and that’s made life difficult for the farmer who has asked to remain anonymous. That’s just like the recent $30m Australian Powerball winner. He hasn’t even been given a nickname unlike ‘Mr. Regular’ from Maryland, USA, who won $50,000 playing Powerball.
The delighted Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot winner has said that the recent droughts in New South Wales have made life on his land almost uninhabitable. “We’ve been going through the drought and things are a bit tough at the moment… we’ve been hanging in there. We raise cattle for the markets and it has been tough as a lot of our dams have been drying up,” he explained.’
‘It’s brilliant. It cheered my day up, as you can imagine,’ he laughed when finding out about his Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot win and described his win as a “godsend.”
Singleton Mayor Sue Moore said in August that “100 per cent of NSW is now in drought” and that July had seen the second hottest July on record and the driest in 16 years with a 15-month run of below-average rainfall in New South Wales.
Speaking about his $200,000 Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot win, he commented: “We are just like anyone who wins money really – everyone can use it towards something. But up here, in the drought, it has come at a great time.”
His Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot winning ticket was purchased from the Singleton Discount Drug Store. A lot of winners immediately declare that they’ll go out and buy a brand-new car. That’s what ‘Roque II’ from Maryland, USA, plans on doing after his $150,000 Powerball win. Other lottery winners such as $6.1m Lotto 6/49 jackpot winner Leonard Peters from Canada make plans to go on holiday.
For this Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot winner, he’s thinking more about his business and wants to buy more feed for his cattle (prices of which have recently tripled), buy a new water tank and a water bore. Welshman Jordon Davies plans to invest in a house renovation business after his £70,000 National Lottery Red Hot 7’s Doubler scratchcard windfall.
