A woman from Roscommon in Ireland has spoken about how her National Lottery scratch card win worth €250,000 is certain to change her life.
The lucky winner, who did not reveal her name when she collected her scratch card prize from National Lottery headquarters in Dublin, said that her life-changing win is still taking some time to really sink in. “It’s just very hard to believe that I’ve won a quarter of a million euro on a scratch card,” the Irish winner said. For a woman from Newfoundland in Canada, her Lotto Max win was certainly life-changing as it came just months after a serious car accident, while a lottery player from Cork said that his €500,000 EuroMillions Plus windfall will complete change the lives of him and his family after years of struggle.
“That moment when the top prize symbol appeared on the card was just so surreal,” she continued, explaining that at first, she wondered if she had made a mistake in reading the scratch card, but soon decided to make a phone call to the National Lottery “to see if I was going mad and imagining things!” A man from Wales also couldn’t believe it when he won £1 million on a National Lottery scratch card!
“There was a pause on the other end of the phone and the person from the National Lottery asked me if I was sitting down because I’ve just won €250,000.” The private winner revealed that she hasn’t even told her family about her scratch card win, because she is still struggling to get her head around the enormity of it.A couple from Dublin recently decided to keep their €1 million Daily Millions win a secret while they processed it.
“I’m going to take a couple of weeks to get over this marvellous shock and then I will share the news with my close family.” The scratch card winner continued to say that she is planning to use her €250,000 win to pay off all of her bills, and she’ll plan a small gathering of close friends and family to celebrate. One of the winners in a People’s Postcode Lottery street prize in Devon, England, was planning a trip to the pub for dinner to celebrate her big £60,000 win.
The lucky scratch card was purchased from a Newsround Store in Roscommon town, which previously sold National Lottery winners in 1991 and 1999.
