It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks for Winnie McGrath from Rathvilly in Carlow, Ireland. She was the lucky winner of €51,000 on the Winning Streak National Lottery TV game and everyone’s been wanting to congratulate her.
Winnie has been living in Carlow all her life but has never known anything like the reaction she’s been receiving since her Winning Streak windfall on November 3, 2018. It seems everyone in the town wants to speak to her and find out what she’s going to do with her winnings.
The lucky winner was having a chat and a glass of wine with her niece Stephanie at home. Winnie was tired after a busy day and just wanted to relax. All of a sudden she heard her name being mentioned on the television in the background. She says she nearly dropped dead from shock.
The Winning Streak TV show gives players the chance to spin a wheel and win up to €500,000. There’s also the possibility of landing on a €100,000 section which is added to the wheel if less than that was won on the previous show.
The Winning Streak winner already has plenty of plans on how to spend her winnings. First up is updating her phone and for a special reason. She joined the Tinahely Walking Club after her husband Liam passed away in 2014 and will use the phone for hill walking apps. She also plans on spending some of her windfall on mending her broken shower.
It’s the latest big win in Ireland after a family from Limerick won €156,000 playing EuroMillions. Also celebrating recently were a family from the south of Ireland who scooped a €4.43m Irish Lotto jackpot.
