A lucky player has won a Missouri lottery jackpot worth $1 million, 15 years after a previous win.

Two wins 15 years apart

Anthony Durand from Kansas City, Missouri and entered a non-winning scratch card into a second-chance drawing.A second chance drawing gives lottery players another go at winning. That draw took place on April 25 and it made him a millionaire.

An email told him the good news

Mr Durand said that he entered his ticket into the second chance drawing and forgot all about it. He didn’t realise he had won until he received a claim form by email. The email informed him he was the grand prize winner.“I didn’t even remember the day they were going to pick the winner,” the Missouri lottery jackpot winner said. His mind was on other things; “it wasn’t something I was checking every day.”

Double lottery lucky for Missouri man

It wasn’t the first time he was a winner though. 15 years ago, the Missouri lottery jackpot winner also won $10,000. That time it was a Missouri Lottery Bingo scratch card that gained him a prize.

Despite his double luck, he only buys scratch cards occasionally. “Every now and then, I’ll buy a ticket,” he said. He usually buys the more expensive tickets, believing that he has more chance of winning.Mr Durand said that he doesn’t have a favourite ticket instead he’ll play whatever $30 ticket he fancies. “I like the Bingo tickets the best,” he declared. “But I play them all, really.”
