EuroMillions syndicate winner reveals she still plays the lotto
An Irish EuroMillions syndicate winner still plays the lotto out of habit. The winner, who shared €175 million with her family in February, says her win still hasn’t sunk in.
Kathleen Sheridan, along with eight of her family members, won €175 million on the EuroMillions this February. Ms Sheridan took home almost €20 million for her share.
Still doesn’t feel real
The winner says that she thinks it’ll be a year before the win has sunk in. “I still play the lotto,” she said. “The syndicate is gone, that was enough for us, we just do the lotto ourselves.”
She said that most syndicate members still play the lotto. “I don’t really know why we do it, we just do, maybe a habit or something.”
No major changes for the EuroMillions syndicate winner
The EuroMillions syndicate winner said that the family haven’t changed in the last three months. “We still meet and have our tea together, go on a holiday. We are all happy and content.”
The money didn’t put any pressure on them to be extravagant. “There was no impulse buying, nothing like that. We have a car but that’s it.”
Ms Sheridan recently turned 60 and threw a modest birthday party. Despite their millions, there was no major party. “Just a small get together. Nothing big or anything, just simple and easy-going.”
Not in any rush to make big plans
The EuroMillions syndicate winner still lives in her house with her husband. “I am probably going to move at some stage,” she said, adding that they aren’t in any rush.
The family all plan to give themselves time to let the win settle. “Everyone is grand, no one has gone crazy or done anything mad,” she laughed. “They are all still in their own houses. We are all still doing well.”
The win is still a big shock to the whole family. “Still now, it’s just unreal, that’s the only thing,” Ms Sheridan said. “It’s hard to explain.”
