$235.4 million Powerball Jackpot Won by 23-year-old
Thomas Yi from Land O’Lakes in Florida, USA has been revealed as the winner of a $235.4 million Powerball jackpot. Despite his win, the 23-year-old is still looking forward to studying either business or medicine.
His win came in the March 27 Powerball draw as his numbers matched: 06-14-38-39-65 and the Powerball 06. He had the option of accepting his win as an annuity paid over 29 years or a one-off cash payment. The latter option was chosen, and he received a fantastic $160,038,444.27.
As you can imagine, it was a big shock for Thomas when discovering he was the jackpot winner. “Even after matching all six numbers, I was in disbelief and took my ticket to a retailer to have it checked,” the shocked player recalled.
It appears the clerk who checked his Powerball ticket was almost as happy as the 23-year-old. “The clerk at the counter instantly became excited and kept repeating that I had won the $235 million Powerball jackpot. I knew then that this would be life changing,” said the Powerball winner.
He could easily just retire now and enjoy his winnings. Work is important to him though and he has studying on his mind. That could be or either of the business or medical professions. One thing is for sure, he won’t be struggling to pay any college fees.
You only need one ticket
Whereas some players buy lots of tickets, this was the only one that Thomas purchased. “I bought just one ticket. I think if it is meant to be, that’s all you need,” said the Powerball winner who obviously believes in fate.
Thomas is the youngest player in Florida to become a Powerball jackpot winner. He bought his winning ticket rom a Publix store in Lutz. The store is rather pleased at selling the winning ticket. That’s because they will receive a $95,000 commission. His win is the 15th Powerball jackpot won by players in Florida.
The next Powerball draw is on Wednesday April 28. There’s a $116 million jackpot to be won.
