Ontario man celebrates ‘unreal’ $100,000 Lotto 649 win

A man from the York region of Ontario, in Canada, has told lottery officials that he was in a state of disbelief when he won $100,000 on the Lotto 649 Encore.Antonio Basile, from Vaughan, was buying a bunch of flowers for his mother when he realised he had some unchecked lottery tickets which he ran through the ticket checker. “I was so confused when I realized that I won,” said the Lotto 649 Encore winner. “I asked my wife to scan it again to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.” A Californian bought some flowers for his wife on Valentine’s Day while he also told her they’ve won over $3 million on the Mega Millions.The Lotto 649 winner visited OLG headquarters in Toronto and told lottery officials that his wife was in complete shock when she ran the ticket back through the machine. “It was unreal!” Mr Basile said. An Iowan lottery winner also described her $30,000 scratch card win as “unreal”.The Ontario man has been playing various lottery games for several years, and on March 10thhis ticket matched the last six of seven numbers in the exact order to win the $100,000 Lotto 649 Encore prize. “I often play Lotto Max, Lotto 649, and Lottario,” he said. A man from Brampton in Ontario recently won $35 million on the Lotto Max game.With the $100,000 Lotto prize money, the Vaughan man plans to use part of it to help some family members financially and pay off some of his own bills. Mr Basile also hopes to be able to take his wife on a cruise to celebrate their upcoming third wedding anniversary. A Powerball winner from Maryland said that she planned to do something special for her wedding anniversary following her $1 million win.“Dreams do come true,” the lottery winner said. “And this is a good dream.” Another Ontario couple, from the town of Whitby, were also in shock after their dream came true to win them $100,000 on the Lotto Max Encore.The winning ticket was purchased from Flower Convenience store on Glen Shields Avenue in Concord, in the York region.To discover how a big win makes you feel, purchase your tickets online at
