TRIO OF NEIGHBOURS ARE CELEBRATING PEOPLE’S POSTCODE LOTTERY WINS

Three neighbours from the same street in Shropshire are celebrating together this week after they discovered that they had each won a People’s Postcode Lottery prize. The neighbours are from Whitefriars in Oswestry, Shropshire, and their postcode SY11 2LP was selected as last weekend’s street prize winner. One of the winners was a former mayor of the town, John Jones, who together with his wife Tegwen, was astounded when People’s Postcode Lottery officials knocked on his door last Sunday. Earlier this year four residents in the Durham Dales shared a People’s Postcode Lottery prize worth £120,000 between them, while a huge prize fund was given out in the Cheylesmore area of Coventry as one couple won over £400,000 on the Postcode Lottery!“I’m overwhelmed – it’s not often I’m stuck for words, but I certainly was when I saw the figure written on the cheque,” Mr Jones said as he received his People’s Postcode Lottery cheque for £30,000. “I think I’ll treat myself and Tegwen to a holiday and I’ll help out my son, Paul, too.” When a group of residents from Ferndown in Dorset won on the People’s Postcode Lottery, they were each given the chance to travel with a £5,000 holiday voucher and £2,000 spending money!Another winner was Brenda Smith, who lives next door to the Jones family, and she told People’s Postcode Lottery officials that she never dreamed she’d win the £30,000 street prize. “I never win anything so I’m in absolute shock. This is beyond my wildest dreams,” she said. The leader of an Irish Lotto syndicate which won €4.3 million earlier this year also said that winning big was something she only ever dreamed of and never imagined would come true.Mrs Smith, who is 85, continued to say that she’ll be using her winnings to treat her two daughters and grandchildren. “It’s so wonderful to win alongside John who I know very well, and it’s so nice to know that so much also goes towards support good causes.”The third winner wasn’t available to collect their prize on Sunday, but their winnings will be paid straight into their bank account. “This is such a fantastic organisation that spread so much happiness and benefits so many people,” Mr Jones added as the neighbours celebrated. “It’s nice that charities win, so there’s winners all round.” Recently a charity which provides school meals to some of the poorest countries in the world was boosted by a People’s Postcode Lottery grant.Get a chance of also becoming a winner and purchase your tickets online at Lottery24.com.
