A woman from Windsor in Ontario, Canada, has been revealed as the province’s latest $5 million Lotto 6/49 winner.
Connie Martin, a 58-year-old caregiver from Windsor, won her $5 million jackpot on the October 24th drawing of Lotto 6/49. The lucky winner claimed her prize from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s headquarters in Toronto last week, telling lottery officials that the Lotto 6/49 windfall is more money than she’s ever had. Another Windsor lottery winner was Paul Fuerth who took home $100,000 as part of a Lotto 6/49 Super Draw on Valentine’s Day, while another Windsor resident took home $1 million on the Lotto 6/49 last year and said that his jaw dropped when he found out he was a millionaire.
“I remember thinking… Oh my, it really is real!” the lottery winner said of the moment she found out about her big win by checking the Lotto 6/49 numbers online. “I was in complete shock. I don’t think I slept all night.” A Lotto Max winner from Whitby, also in Ontario, Canada, told lottery officials that a month on from the drawing which won him $175,000, he was still in shock.
Ms Martin is a regular Lotto 6/49 player, and often dallies in other games such as Lottario and Daily Grand. She told lottery officials that she is well aware of how much her $5 million is going to change her life, and she is looking forward to moving forward with it. A couple from Wales said that they were delighted to be able to stop worrying about their mortgage when they won £1 million on the UK Lotto.
“It means I can relax and now have to worry about a lot of things anymore,” the Lotto 6/49 winner told OLG officials as she smiled with her cheque for $5 million. She continued to say that she plans to use her newfound wealth to buy herself a new house and a new car. She also wants to do some travelling and put some money aside for the future. A Keno lottery winner from Michigan was also able to put some financial worries to bed after winning $500,000 which also meant she could spend more time with her family.
The winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was purchased from a Shopper’s Drug Mart store in Windsor, and Ms Martin beat odds of one in 13,983,816 to win the jackpot.
