For a couple from Louisiana there was plenty to be grateful for this Thanksgiving thanks to a delayed Louisiana Lotto win.
Harold and Tina Ehrenberg decided to give their home a good clean before the Thanksgiving holiday. While they were they found an unchecked ticket for the Louisiana Lotto. The ticket dated back to June 6 2018, and the couple had completely forgotten about it.
“We have family coming into town for Thanksgiving,” Mrs Ehrenberg explained. “So I was cleaning up the house and found a few lottery tickets on my nightstand that we hadn’t checked,”. The excited couple travelled to lottery headquarters just a few days before Thanksgiving to claim their Louisiana Lotto win.
Mrs Ehrenberg said that when she found the tickets, she shouted to her husband: “You need to take a look at this,.” She handed the winning ticket to him and asked him to double check. “I said, ‘I’m gonna call out the numbers and let me know what you think.”
The winners then checked their numbers once more online. They discovered that their Louisiana Lotto ticket hadn’t just won them any old prize, but it was the jackpot winner, worth $1.8 million. Having been purchased back in June, the ticket was only two weeks away from its expiry date.
The Louisiana Lotto Win is now in the bank, and the couple remarked that they don’t plan to do anything crazy with their winnings. “We don’t have any plans to buy anything crazy or go on any big trips,” Mrs Ehrenberg laughed. Her husband added: “The most fun is going to be depositing that check!”
