Irish Lotto Win of €20000 Will Be Used to Open Wellness Retreat
It’s a new year and time to focus on self-improvement for the months ahead. Taking some advice from Jen Corcoran from Dublin, Ireland, would be a good idea. She won a €20,000 Irish Lotto prize and used the funds to ‘pay it forward’ by opening a wellness retreat called Zen Wellness in Dublin.
The Stress of Everyday Life
The 34-year-old is a former personal assistant and her work allowed her to see just how stressful life could be. Regardless of what levels employees worked at, many suffered stress problems and ended up “running on empty.”
Seeing all the problems that created led her to look at how to deal with her own mental health and choose a different career path. She placed more emphasis on taking time out and switching off from work to reduce anxiety.
Irish Lotto Success
This led to her meditating, doing Reiki and going away on wellness retreats. Then she was lucky enough to win €20,000 when playing the Irish Lotto. She was determined to do something good with her windfall and that led to her opening the Zen Wellness retreat last year.
It hasn’t been all plain sailing though with the recent Storm Ali that battered Ireland blowing down her big marquee on the side of her house. But that setback led to her moving to larger premises in Park West Industrial Estate close to Dublin. Now she can lease out nine rooms to 25 other therapists all thanks to her Irish Lotto success. The launch event for the new centre took place on January 11 and shows just what can be achieved after a lottery win. Zen Wellness offers one-day corporate packages, one-on-one appointments and other services such as holistic coaching and Reiki healing.
If you’re feeling stressed, Jen has plenty of simple tips on how to build ‘sustained happiness.’ They include creating a morning ritual and writing down three things for which you are grateful for just before going to bed. Performing acts of kindness and exercising more are also recommended to help create a new you for this new year.
