EuroMillions windfall for 19 person Scottish syndicate
19 colleagues are sharing a EuroMillions prize worth £1 million. Each syndicate member will take home £50,000 after recent lottery results went their way.
Workplace syndicate works out well
The 19 strong syndicate is made up of 18 current workers and one former colleague from Icom-Scottish Ltd. The group formed a lottery syndicate while they were working together.
Together, they won the guaranteed £1 million prize in a EuroMillions draw. One family will take home a huge £200,000 between them as all four family members are part of the syndicate.
The business is a family business, with both the founder and managing director working with family members who are all involved in the syndicate. The group told lottery officials that they have been buying tickets together for over 20 years.
Thanks to the EuroMillions win, the syndicate are now excitedly planning how to spend their winnings. New cars, home renovations, luxury holidays and big celebrations were at the top of the list.
An emotional moment for all
Syndicate leader Lee Jackson, who is also the company’s managing director, told lottery officials that the moment they found out they’d won was emotional. Carol Colebrook, the ticket purchaser, had come running into the office on Monday morning to break the news.
“It was a very emotional moment for everyone,” Mr Jackson said, “You could tell people were worried about what we were going to announce.” He said that once they broke the news of the big EuroMillions win, “they blew the roof off with cheers.”
The lottery player continued to say that they are delighted to have shared the good news with friends and loved ones. He said that news has already travelled fast, including to the car dealership next door.
“The manager has already paid us a visit with some business cards – he may well get some sales out of this!”
