Scratchcard Gift Wins Homeless People €50,000

When a woman in France purchased a scratchcard, she decided to donate it to four young homeless people. She probably hoped it would win them enough for a meal or somewhere to stay that night. They got the shock of their lives when it won them a €50,000 prize.

The woman saw the four men begging outside the tabac, Le Minuit in Brest and had a quick chat with them. She decided to buy a scratchcard and give it to them in the hope it might win them some cash. Little did she guess that the card which is part of the Banco game would win the top prize o €50,000.

Dominique Pierre is the co-owner of the tabac Le Minuit and recalled the amazing incident. The shop opens till late at night and the four homeless people were often seen outside. However, there has been no sign of them since their fantastic scratchcard win. It’s believed they have left the town and are enjoying their winnings elsewhere.

A much larger win than initially thought

As delighted as the quartet were at their fantastic change of luck, they failed to realize just how much they had won. Initially, they thought their win was just €5, not enough to take them off the streets. Then, others looked at the scratchcard and saw their win was double that amount.

The lottery operator FDJ said that the winners were all in their 30s. They were “dumbfounded, but lucid” after winning the money in such circumstances. The four winners have shared the amount, and each will have €12,500. Hopefully, the win will help them turn their lives around.
