Highlands couple organise armed forces day after winning £1 million EuroMillions prize

HIGHLANDS COUPLE ORGANISE ARMED FORCES DAY AFTER WINNING £1 MILLION EUROMILLIONS PRIZE

A couple from Argyll in the Scottish Highlands who collected a £1 million from UK lottery officials continued with their regular routine and organised their local Armed Forces celebration.George Rhodick and his wife Betty, both of whom are retired, became instant millionaires thanks to the Millionaire Raffle draw on May 29th, and they told lottery officials that it was a close call as to whether or not they would be claiming the prize money at all. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders veteran threw his EuroMillions ticket away after checking it and finding out that his numbers had not matched any of the numbers in the draw, but it was his wife who saved the day.Discovering that they were EuroMillions millionaires, however, did not prompt the couple to immediately book tickets for a luxury holiday or purchase a new house. Instead, the very next day, they were putting the final touches to the preparations for a local Armed Forces Day. The celebration of those who have served their country in the past and those that still do it today, took place this weekend and is the only event of its kind in the lottery winners’ town of Argyll. The EuroMillions winning couple continued with their voluntary work without hesitation and were selling raffle tickets in their local Co-op in the run up to the event, which was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Argyll’s being given the freedom of Lochgilphead. Mr Rhodick is chairman of the Armed Forces Day committee and his wife is the secretary, and they insisted that they would not be taking a step back from their roles despite their new found fortune, although Mrs Rhodick did admit that the EuroMillions win had been a little “distracting” for the couple. The parade went off without a hitch, however, and the EuroMillions millionaires said that the event had a different feel this year, with Mrs Rhodick saying “Everything seems to be falling into place. It has been different this year. I wouldn’t say the lottery win has made it more special, it has always been special before.”You too could become a winner, so try your luck and purchase your lottery tickets online at Lottery24.com.
