THE ITALIAN SUPERENALOTTO JACKPOT WON IN SARDINIA
On Saturday May 24th a lucky player in Olbia, Sardinia, won an amazing SuperEnalotto jackpot worth €20.8 million. The ticket was purchased ten minutes before the sales deadline.
The owner of the tobacco shop that sold the lucky ticket, Antonello Selloni, told the press that it was purchased at 18:50 on Saturday evening, just ten minutes before the official closing of the sales. The shop is located in Via Roma, in Olbia town centre, in the beautiful isle of Sardinia. Mr. Selloni says that it is not easy to guess who could have purchased the ticket, even for himself.
“My tobacco shop is very busy – he told the press – there are many regular customers, but there are also a lot of passers by.”
The winning combination for Saturdays draw was 3, 22, 38, 70, 77, 81, with the Jolly number being 32. The lucky ticket-holder will bag a stunning €20,836,103.22, which is the 108th first category win of this game. SuperEnalotto is a generous lottery: in this same draw, there were no winners for the second category prize (matching 5 numbers plus the Jolly number), but there were 12 lucky players that bagged an attractive €22,610.44 by matching 5 numbers, while 800 players matched 4 numbers and won €341.09.
With Saturdays win, Sardinia goes up in the rankings of the luckiest Italian regions and reaches Sicily with five jackpot wins, while Campania lead the way with 17 jackpots, followed by Lazio with 16. The top prize won on Saturday May 24th is the third in 2014: in January there was a jackpot of €26 million in Bari while in February somebody in Prato received €12 million. Since the SuperEnalotto re-launched in1997 with a new structure, the total amount of jackpot winnings (without counting the winnings of lower categories) amounts to more than €2.8 billion.
