Friday means rollovers around the lottery world, while Mega Millions reaches $100m

Lottery24 – Filling Mega Millions tickets

Two of the world’ biggest lotteries were drawn on Friday evening, but neither of them was able to find a winner as they rolled over to create midweek lottery jackpots worth a second glance.

The EuroMillions lottery had been won in its previous drawing on Tuesday, so Friday’s jackpot was worth an estimated £11.9 million. However, the lottery was not on a winner’s roll, but instead a jackpot rollover as the jackpot went without a winner and will be worth an estimated £17 million for its next draw on Tuesday, August 5th.

Despite the jackpot going without a winner, there were some second tier consolation prizes, where six tickets matched all of the five main numbers 24, 44, 46, 48 and 50 and just one out of the two Lucky Stars 5 and 10. These six winners all received £163,443 while 14 tickets matched five main numbers only to win a third tier prize worth £23,349.

Across the pond in the USA, the multi-state lottery Mega Millions also had a draw on Friday evening, and the jackpot was worth an estimated $87 million. Winning numbers 13, 19, 34, 37 and 72 were drawn in New York along with the Mega Ball of 6; however no tickets in the 43 member states matched these numbers to take home the jackpot.

Instead, two ticket holders matched just the five main numbers, missing only the Mega Ball, and each of those tickets won a second tier prize fund of $1 million. According to Mega Millions officials, those winning tickets were sold in California and Iowa.

The Mega Millions lottery will now roll over for its next draw on Tuesday, August 5th and it will be worth $100 million. This is the first time in a while that the Mega Millions lottery has been worth over $100 million, and the jackpot is now worth $30 million more than the USA’s other multi-state lottery, the Powerball which is currently standing at $70 million. Mega Millions ticket purchases may well be up for the next draw, and there will surely be plenty of lottery hopefuls waiting for a slice of the pie.
