VIRGINIA MAN WINS A MEGA MILLIONS PRIZE AND SPLITS IT WITH FRIENDS

A man from Arlington in Virginia, USA, has won $1 million on the Mega Millions lottery, and split the winnings with his group of friends, some of whom he’s known for 40 years.Giang Kim Nguyen told Mega Millions lottery officials that he buys tickets for the drawings once a week, and always stipulates that any winnings will be split between himself and his ten closest friends. On October 23rd, that was no different as Mr Nguyen bought a Mega Millions ticket from a Giant Food grocery store in Dale City, and that ticket ended up a $1 million winner. Another recent Mega Millions winner from Virginia was Marcus Cobb who took home $1 million earlier this year and planned to put it towards his children’s educations.Once he’d realised that the ticket matched the first five numbers of the October 23rd Mega Millions drawing, missing just the Mega Ball, Mr Nguyen said that he sent a photo of the winning ticket to his friendship group, dubbed the “Awesome Eleven” with the simple message: “We won!” According to the Virginia Lottery, the winner’s friends all thought that he was joking. A Lotto America jackpot winner from Minnesota declared that she would be sharing her $22.8 million prize money with her brother and his two daughters.Their winning $1 million ticket was one of two sold in Virginia for the Mega Millions drawing last month, both beating odds of 1 in 12,607,306. After they’ve split the $1 million prize, each of the “Awesome Eleven” friends will receive approximately $90,909 before taxes and other costs are withdrawn, but the lottery winners did not give any clues as to how they each plan to spend their share of the winnings. Three long time friends from Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, shared $3.6 million on the Canadian Lotto 649 and planned to put their winnings towards their retirement plans. We can assume that winners will perhaps use their shares to pay off some bills or go on holiday like many lottery winners do, however we recently shared news of a survey in the UK which revealed that lottery winners have gone off spending their jackpots on material goods, and instead they prefer to share with family and friends and spend their money on experiences. Recently a group of neighbours in Devon, England, had spending plans galore when they each won £30,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery thanks to their winning postcodes.Trust your luck and purchase your tickets online at Lottery24.com.
