Rick Knudsen won a $180m Mega Millions jackpot in 2014 and used some of his winnings to purchase land in his native California. He moved into a $26m dream house and told reporters, “We really are very grounded people. But there’s nothing wrong with being grounded in a big house.”Englishwoman Bev Doran bought a new house after her £14.5m EuroMillions win. In Ireland, a family couldn’t wait to use their €45,742 Irish Lotto windfall to get a home of their own.Rick’s Mega Millions win also allowed him to open up a saloon, steakhouse and wedding venue with his children. “He kept it within his family and kept it close,” said his son Brandon Gallegos. He added that the family didn’t want to stop working despite being multi-millionaires thanks to the Mega Millions draw. “We’d rather give back and provide jobs, provide a future for our families and for other families as well,” he said.Knudsen’s “big house” turned out to be the Eagle Crest Mountain Estate which included a 16,000 square-foot rustic home plus 155 acres of a buffalo ranch as well as another 640 acres of his own mountain section with water rights. The house needed lots of work on it and only within the last six months was it completed, but now the property is being sold for $26m. £7m Irish Lotto winner Greg Smyth also sold his dream house. The Mega Millions winners house sale is going ahead due to the fact his son has a heart condition and doctors say he’d benefit from “living at a lower elevation.’  The luxury house that the family currently live in is 6.000 feet above sea level. English couple Adam and Ann Pryor were able to help their ill daughter after winning £1m playing EuroMillions. The five-bedroom main house has plenty of luxuries including a 17-seat movie theatre with a George Lucas sound system and an authentic movie snack counter. There’s also a fully-equipped gym, private jacuzzi, state-of-the-art kitchen, sauna and a wine cellar.
